Zero shaping of nonminimum phase aircraft dynamics

In this paper, two controller synthesis methods are proposed that ensure that the closed- loop transfer matrix from the process disturbance acting on an aircraft to the performance output of the aircraft has only minimum phase blocking and transmission zeros. The first method employs a parallel feedforward controller, while the second method uses a static output feedback controller and relies on the concept of minimum gain. Both methods make use of linear matrix inequalities for controller synthesis. The proposed controller synthesis methods are applied to nonminimum phase linearized longitudinal and lateral-directional aircraft dynamics, and their performance is compared in simulation.
