Bibliographical note
Funding Information:Molecular testing is an increasingly utilized adjunct when evaluating indeterminant thyroid nodules in an effort to avoid unnecessary surgical or diagnostic risk to a patient. Its use is supported by the American Thyroid Association and the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) among other medical societies. The potential utility of molecular evaluation of thyroid nodules is broad, with a possible future role in staging, treatment, disease monitoring, and identifying familial risk among other uses. This review seeks to evaluate the existing literature to determine the utility and applicability of molecular testing in indeterminate thyroid nodules. 1–5 3,4 3–5
