Weak charge quantization as an instanton of the interacting σ model

The weak residual charge quantization was incorporated in the diffusive nonlinear σ model (NLσM) formalism. A large quantum dot with the capacitive interaction connected to a bulk reservoir by a diffusive noninteracting wire was considered. Particular focus was given to the presence of any Coulomb blockade effects on the dot.
