Abstract

The design of more efficient RF volume coil for human head and body magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was presented. The new volume coil improved performance, patient access and magnet bore space requirements. The solution explored for the head coil carry to body coils with arm slots and to the extremity coils for the various parts of the body. It was observed that this approach to coil size reduction improved patient comfort by opening the face in the head coil.
