Abstract
The Geonics EM 16, the first instrument to apply VLF to electromagnetic mineral prospecting, is described here. An analysis of the electromagnetic phenomena and their effect on the measured values shows that, in addition to the precise location of anomalies, some other information is to be found in the VLF recordings. Thanks to its features, the VLF-EM method is suited not only for detecting the mineral deposits underground, but also for obtaining additional knowledge about geology.
