Abstract

A new visualization technique for studying reaction injection molding (RIM) impingement mixing at representative Reynolds numbers is described. A dye which fades with mixing prevents a clouded mixing chamber. Poor mixing is highlighted by regions of unfaded dye. Mixing improves rapidly up to a Reynolds number of about 400 and slowly thereafter.
