Abstract
The article presents a study on the morphology development in polymer blends. For the elimination of morphology change during quenching time, the break-up of a single pellet of one polymer inside a matrix of another polymer was visualized using a transparent parallel plate mixer. The quenching time must be minimized to study the effect of mixing on morphology. Results showed that during blending, pellets break-up into cylinders through three breakup mechanisms. The breakup are dependent on shear stress.
