Abstract

The abuse and neglect of adolescents is a problem that many workers face and for which they lack a systematic approach. The five major perspectives of adolescent abuse discussed at the workshop (historical perspective, extension of child abuse and neglect, adolescent development, the family system and contemporary social context) must be welded together into a unified concept, so that such a systematic approach may be developed.
