Abstract

A comparison was made of ensemble averaging and manual scoring of impedance cardiograms in five healthy males during three postures and an isometric handgrip task. Stroke volume calculated from ensemble-averaged impedance values was highly correlated with stroke volume calculated from hand-scored waveforms (r = 0.985, p 0.0001). This relationship demonstrates the validity of this ensemble averaging program for use in impedance cardiography studies.
