Usefulness of parametric dynamic contours Vs. Level sets for real-time computer vision

Abstract

This paper presents an overview of level set dynamic contours. We compare their usefulness to parametric dynamic contours for real-time constrained computer vision. While parametric models produce worse segmentations and can't handle topological changes, they are markedly more efficient allowing for real-time implementations.
