Abstract

Two ultrasound phased-array configurations are discussed. The sector-vortex array has been implemented as a prototype. Field patterns measured in water show remarkable agreement with patterns predicted by computer simulation. The cylindrical sector array offers an approach for deep heating which minimizes hot spots either proximal or distal to the tumor due to scanned fields. A simulation study is presented.
