Abstract
Ultra-wideband (UWB) radio is an emerging technology with attractive features inviting major advances in wireless communications, networking, radar, imaging, and positioning systems. However to reap these benefits, UWB research and development has to cope with formidable challenges that limit their bit error rate (BER) performance, capacity, throughput, and network flexibility. Such challenges call for advanced digital signal processing (DSP) expertise to accomplish tasks such as synchronization, channel estimation and equalization, multiuser detection, high-rate high-precision low-power analog/digital conversion (ADC), and suppression of aggregate interference arising from coexisting legacy systems.
