Abstract
Type 2 Diabetes in youth is an aggressive disease characterized by progressive pancreatic B-cell function loss and worse glycemic control and diabetes-related comorbidities outcomes than in adults with T2DM. Additionally, there are limited, effective treatment outcomes for youth with T2DM compared to adults. Treatment of obesity may help glycemic control in both adults and adolescents with T2DM. This chapter is a review of the epidemiology, pathophysiology, screening, and treatment options for youth with T2DM with an anti-obesity approach.
