Abstract

Reactions of [Ti(CO)₆]^2- and chlorotriphenyl-methane or chlorotris(4-methoxyphenyl)methane provide the first examples of trityltitanium complexes. These have been shown by IR, NMR, and single-crystal X-ray structural characterizations to have the molecular formula [Ti(CO)₄{η⁵-C(4-C₆H₄R) ₃}]^- (R = H, OCH₃).
