Abstract

Studies of the magnetic ordering in the amorphous alloys Fe//1//0Ni//6//5B//1//5Si//1//0 and Fe//1//5Ni//6//5P//1//6B//6Al//3 have been made using magnetoresistance as a probe. Both of these alloys order ferromagnetically and at a lower temperature become spin glasses. The data suggest the breakdown of ferromagnetic order occurs on a length scale of less than 1 nm.
