    Abstract

The "function' in functional ecology includes the concept of process, which if set in an ecological context needs to address adaptational issues, and adaptational principles become central to the subject. Functional ecology further is often concerned with physiological measurements; in turn, in examining how these reflect and can be influenced by demographic and genetic parameters, they may involve population dynamics and both classical and molecular genetics. -from Author
