Abstract

The problem and the solution. Can metaphors be used to better understand how consultants think, what skills and knowledge they use,and why they structure their work and daily activities in a certain fashion? Can those metaphors guide the education and development of HRD consultants and future research? This chapter reports findings of research and illustrates the use of metaphor to collect and analyze data.It introduces the metaphors of HRD consultants as farmers, magicians spinning plates, and people on a journey.
