Thermal transport on the superfluid side of the Kosterlitz-Thouless transition in He4 films

Abstract

We report measurements of the effective thermal conductance of a He4 film on the superfluid side of the Kosterlitz-Thouless transition. The conductance is observed to obey a power law in the applied thermal power as predicted by Ambegaokar et al. The superfluid density obtained from the exponent is observed to rise sharply at the transition and then increase linearly with film thickness.
