Abstract

A limiting theory describing the total energy stored in a single crystal martensitic thin film made of shape memory material is presented. Based on this equation, the deformation behavior in the microstructure of the films during martensitic transformation was analyzed, and the wide variety of austenite-martensite interface that can be formed in thin films was calculated. The formation of tunnel and tent microstructures were also demonstrated.
