THE UNITED NATION’S SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS, HOW SMART DESIGN CAN PROMOTE EQUITY AMONG THE UNDERSERVED INHABITANTS OF CITIES

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

The United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) offer a path toward achieving a more equitable and environmentally responsible future for humanity. While all the goals relate to each other, this chapter considers each goal in turn, with examples of how architects and designers have addressed each one in a wide range of projects. The chapter ends with the idea that the built environment does not just play a key role in achieving the SDGs, but also that it can serve as a metaphor for how countries and communities might reach the goals in more collaborative and creative ways.
