Abstract
Summaries of weather normals on fixed time periods of one month or longer, though commonly available, are too long and out of phase with critical stages of crop development and associated agricultural operations such that their use in agriculture is limited. Procedures for calculating daily temperatures, daily accumulated growing degree days and daily accumulated precipitation, considered agriculturally oriented normals, from monthly summaries are discussed and compared.
