Abstract

Community-based participatory research (CBPR) represents an action research approach that emphasizes close collaboration among clinical providers and community participants (patients and families). Our primary objective in writing this account is to highlight a novel intervention that is oriented to adolescents with diabetes and was designed and implemented through CBPR. This partnership involved the active engagement of medical and mental health providers, situated in a large academic hospital, with teenage patients and their families.
