Abstract
In this study we demonstrate allograft survival in a rat model of renal transplantation using the δ1-opioid receptor antagonist, 7-benzylspiroindanylnaltrexone. Treatment with 7-benzylspiroindanylnaltrexone caused 50% of the rats to survive longer than 100 days (untreated, 11±3 days). Naltrindole, a δ-opioid receptor antagonist without subtype selectivity, also promoted graft survival but was substantially less effective, suggesting that antagonism at δ1-opioid receptors is involved in allograft survival.
