Abstract
The recent disclosure that the 2-methylindole adduct of methyl vinyl ketone can be converted to 2-methylcarbazole prompts us to report on some of our studies with 3-vinylindoles, since it has seemed likely to us that carbonyl-containing 2- methyl-3-vinylindoles, such as IIa-IId, may also serve as carbazole precursors.
