SWEEPING STRANDS, LIQUID FOSSE: Choreographing Water at the Fountains of Bellagio

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

The air is dry, and heat radiates from the sidewalks. Spectators begin to congregate, staking out spots along the edges of the 8½-acre human-made lake modeled upon the famous Lake Como in Lombardy, Italy. As recorded music emanates from outdoor speakers embedded inside lampposts and fixtures surrounding the lake, passersby can’t help but pause. 2 The performance beckons them to gaze upon the water as the dancers “twirl and spin” with awe-inspiring mechanical precision and power.
