title = "Sustainability: GEOC's Perspective",
abstract = "At the 2014 spring national meeting of the American Chemical Society, the symposium Sustain-Mix: Sustainability Across the Society was convened by the Division of Chemical Education. Members of the executive board of the Division of Geochemistry prepared a presentation addressing sustainability from a geochemistry perspective. The group identified four grand challenges: 1) Understanding Earth-atmospheric processes, climate change and ocean acidification, 2) Understanding natural and anthropogenic impacts on water quality, 3) Sustainable mining for critical elements, and 4) Preventing soil degradation due to intensive agriculture.",
