Abstract

The report gives an overview of the results of a survey on excessive alarms that was conducted by the Joint Working Group on Power System Control Centers. Results from the survey are tabulated by number of responses as well as by opinions expressed. The conclusions from the survey strongly suggest a need for improvements in present control system alarm processors. One such improvement would be to give operators a one event - one alarm environment to reduce alarm loading.
