Abstract

The collapse, under simulated earthquake motion, of a multistory r/c frame structure with columns flexurally weaker than beams (SBWC) is studied. A small-scale model, comprising parallel nine-story, three-bay frames, was constructed and tested on an earthquake simulator. Structural response is summarized over a series of simulated earthquakes of increasing intensity. Displacement records, during the simulated earthquake that produced collapse, are incomplete. Different methods for correcting and integrating acceleration records to produce displacement response are considered.
