Abstract

We report on a study of charged and neutral K* production in tau decay. We obtain a branching ratio value BR(τ-→K*-ντX0) = (1.43±0.11±0.13)% where X0 designates possible unobserved neutral particles (charge conjugate modes are implicit). We observe the first signals for inclusive K*0 and K̄*0 production in τ- decay, and determine the inclusive branching ratios τ-→K*0K-ντX0 and τ- K ̄*0π-ντX0 to be (0.32±0.08±0.12)% and (0.38±0.11±0.13)%, respectively. We have searched for the decay τ-→K0K-ντX0 and set a limit of 8 × 10-3 at 90% confidence level.
