Abstract

The purpose of this workshop is to introduce the structured controversy format as an alternative approach for teaching controversial issues and training for effective decision-making. A model is presented to train engineers to constructively manage conflict. Applications in instruction and in improving the quality of decision-making are presented. The format of the workshop involves a combination of lecture, discussion, and small group problem-solving and discussion.
