N2 - We describe here a finite element scheme that employs streamtubes, and in particular a set of streamlines, for analyzing flows of incompressible liquids of any constitutive behavior - Newtonian, differential, or integral - although the scheme was created to meet the stringent demand of liquid with memory, i. e. integral constitutive behavior. It facilitates evaluation of residence times, convective dispersion, and so on. As noted, it can be applied to analysis of scalar transport in order to compute surfaces or lines of constant potential, including moving fronts of phase change, simultaneously with the potential field.
