Abstract

The authors show that automation of complex handling and assembly operations can be achieved by the introduction of industrial robots, computer controlled and equipped with simple tactic sensors. The paper investigates the features that a programming language has to include in order to handle the automatic emergency recovery problem. It is pointed out that some techniques and languages, employed in Artificial Intelligence research, seem apt to approach the proposed problem.
