N2 - Two novel electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) structures are presented to reduce the size and length of coplanar waveguides (CPW) with frequency selective characteristics. The proposed EBG CPW structures are made by alternating wave impedances using slow wave (SW) structures which have high effective dielectric constant values. The proposed designs and characteristics for 45.4 and 37.5% reduction are described herein.
