N2 - In order to make computer simulation of intersections more appealing and easier to use, and interactive, menu-driven micro-computer program, called INTERCON (Michalopoulos and Plum, 1986), was sponsored by the Minnesota Department of Transportation and developed by the University of Minnesota. In addition to the fact that it is microcomputer-based, the program is attractive both because entry of data into it and interpretation of the output obtained from it are very simple. Graphics displays have been incorporated into the input procedure to provide a visual representation of the options selected, reducing the likelihood of data entry errors. Graphics displays have also been used during the simulation to provide a second-by-second visual depiction.
