Abstract
The formation of covalent nucleobase lesions (DNA adducts) is the first critical step of chemical carcinogenesis.1 If not repaired, DNA adducts can cause mispairing during DNA replication and be converted to heritable mutations. Accumulation of genetic changes in tumor suppressor genes and protooncogenes is a hallmark of cancer.2
