Abstract
Intradermal injection of 100 μg of capsaicin in cats excited dorsal horn spinal neurons classified as either 'high threshold' or 'wide dynamic range'. Capsaicin enhanced their responses to innocuous mechanical stimulation. A role for these neurons in mechanical hyperalgesia is suggested.
