Seismic resistance of partially-grouted masonry shear walls

Abstract

In-plane cyclic load tests of partially-grouted masonry shear walls with bond beams are presented. Lateral force resistance mechanisms are discussed in conjunction with observed displacement response. Parameters relating to initial stiffness, shear strength, residual strength, energy dissipation and deformation capacity are highlighted, and predictions for the latter two are compared with measurements.
