Abstract
An essay is presented on Readers' Advisory services (RA) in libraries and on limitations found in conventional practice and focus on genre fiction. Particular focus is given to reasons why people read rather than solely on what they choose to read. The authors note that the integration of RA with literacy research requires additional study.
