Abstract
Due to the mild reaction conditions, fast response, less corrosive than acid catalysts, and so on, the solid base catalysts are widely used in the production of biodiesel by transesterification. There are two main types of solid base, supported solid base catalysts and non-supported solid base catalysts. The application status of several solid base catalysts in biodiesel and their problems are summarized. At the same time, the design methods of solid base catalysts are introduces at the atomic and molecular level.
