Abstract

'Camelot ' (Reg. No. CV-1036, PI 653832) hard red winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) was developed cooperatively by the Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station and the USDA-ARS and released in 2008. In addition to researchers at the releasing institutions, USDA-ARS researchers at Manhattan, KS, and St. Paul, MN, participated in the development of Camelot. Camelot was selected from the cross KS91H184/'Arlin' Sib//KS91HW29/3/NE91631/4/VBF0168 that was made in 1995. Camelot was selected as an F_3:4 line (F₃-derived line in the F₄ generation) in 1999, and in 2001 it was assigned experimental line number NE01604. Camelot was released because of its superior grain yield performance, disease resistance, and end-use quality under nonirrigated production in Nebraska and adjacent states.
