Correction to: Nature Aging, published 5 December 2023. In the version of the article initially published, three references were missing from the “Female aging after menopause” section and have now been added as references 32, 42 and 44: Davis, S. R., Pinkerton, J., Santoro, N. & Simoncini, T. Menopause–biology, consequences, supportive care, and therapeutic options. Cell19, 4038–4058 (2023); Wood, B. M. et al. Demographic and hormonal evidence for menopause in wild chimpanzees. Science382, 368–369 (2023) and Winkler, I. & Goncalves, A. Do mammals have menopause? Cell186, 4729–4733 (2023). The changes have been made to the HTML and PDF versions of the article.
