Abstract
Data, of a preliminary nature, are presented from a survey carried out in Britain in an attempt to estimate the average weight of a complete vegetation -cover. Annual dry-weight production of a standing crop towards the end of the growing season was found to be between 4, 000-14, 000 kg./ ha. No simple relation was found between soil type and production.
