Abstract

The assumption is made that there are many heavy vector mesons with density given by the statistical bootstrap. Using statistical methods and generalized vector dominance we are then able to calculate angle-integrated cross sections for the reactions e+e-→π+π-, γp→(ρππ)p, and γnucleus→π+π-nucleus. We also calculate πp→(ρππ)Δ which does not involve vector dominance. The results compare well with experiment and, along with results previously obtained for other reactions, demonstrate a method for calculating spectral shapes for many processes.
