Abstract
University of Minnesota researchers have devised a process for microbial production of PHA polymers by using first one nutrient and then a second nutrient during the fermentation process. The process uses Ralstonia eutropa to produce the PHA block copolymers. Block copolymers made by this process can be compounded with a tackifier and, optionally, a crosslinking agent to form an adhesive material.
