Abstract

A decision support system (DSS) is being developed for incident detection in freeways. The detection objectives can vary from detailed detection of every traffic abnormality to lane blocking detection or simple congestion level information. The level of detection affects the selection of the algorithm and the thresholds of the selected algorithm.
