Abstract

The continuum theory developed by Ball and James has been applied to predict the microstructure in LaNbO4, such as morphology of domains, domain boundary, and crystallographic relationship between domains. The results from the theory are in good agreement with that from direct examination by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and optical microscopy.
