Abstract
The time-delayed Lorentz equation suggested by Cohn is applied to the problem of a constant force which acts for a finite time, and an exact solution is obtained. Whereas the Lorentz equation predicts pre-acceleration, the Cohn equation predicts a runaway post-acceleration. The energy balance of the time-delayed theory is found to be of an unreasonable form.
