Abstract

This review deals with the recent past and current studies on polymer self-diffusion in dense entangled systems. Subjects of interest which constitute sections of this review include: molecular theory of self-diffusion in entangled systems, experimental techniques for following single molecule motion (self-diffusion), summaries of data on self-diffusion in melts and concentrated solution, and applications of these theories and data to practical problems of interest such as adhesion, elastomer tack, polymer fusion, polymer crystallization diffusion-controlled reactions of polymers, and several others.
