Polarization insensitive optical amplifiers in AlInGaAs

Abstract

Numerical calculations were performed for polarization insensitive amplifiers in AlInGaAs material system for both 1300nm and 1550nm wavelength ranges. Amplifiers at 1300nm were fabricated and tested. At 1280nm, maximum gain difference was observed in less than 0.3dB.
