Abstract
Kraft lignin components exhibit a surprisingly persistent tendency to associate reversibly with one another. Fully dissociated samples are therefore necessary for the coherent physicochemical characterization of kraft lignin preparations. Disregard of this precept can engender conclusions which are inconsistent with some elements in the analytical data subsequently acquired.
